Werekataba - A slice of the country in the heart of the city - overnight and short stay accommodation.

Set on one hectare (2½ acres) of rolling lawns, with an abundance of native trees and shrubs, Werekataba is the ideal base to explore Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the diverse and beautiful Hunter Valley.

Your “home away from home” at Werekataba includes exclusive use of a private apartment containing a large loungeroom with TV/DVD/CD/iPod dock, a fully-equipped eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and the other with two king-single beds - cot and high chair available), a full bathroom with separate shower and spa-bath, and a separate laundry. Although your guest accommodation is part of our large family home, you are assured of complete privacy, with your own guest entrance and parking, your own private courtyard, undercover patio and barbecue. Werekataba is ideal for singles, a couple (or two couples travelling together) or a family.

At Werekabata, our international guests will experience a taste of the Australian countryside without leaving the city.

Tea, coffee and breakfast cereals are provided.

Wereketaba is just a short drive from the major centres of the Hunter Valley, yet it is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We invite you to wander around our property, set among the spotted gums and ironbarks, with beautiful native gardens, fruit trees, rolling lawns and resident kookaburras, water dragons, wild ducks and other local fauna. Enjoy morning or afternoon tea, or a picnic lunch, at one of the “rest areas” around the property. Our large swimming pool and a special children's play area are also here for your enjoyment.

Although in a country setting, Werekataba is: -just a few minutes from the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie (including the 15km walkway/cycleway along the northern edge of the lake) and the lakeside village of Warners Bay, with its delightful restaurants and cafes -10 minutes from the shopping and entertainment hub of Charlestown -10 minutes from Blackbutt nature reserve, with its cuddly koalas and other native fauna -20 minutes from Newcastle’s CBD, cultural precinct and historic working harbour -20 minutes from the pristine beaches of Redhead, Merewether, Newcastle and Nobbys (and others in between) and the rugged beauty of the Glenrock State Conservation Area, and -just one hour from the Hunter vineyards, the Watagans National Park and the pristine beaches of Port Stephens. -In 2011 Lonely Planet voted Newcastle one if its Top 10 Cities.
