Whether you fancy sipping something unique at a start-up brewery or favour a more traditional taste, there’s destined to be a cold one to satisfy anyone’s taste buds in Lake Macquarie.
Now home to a booming craft beer scene, there are a growing number of breweries in the city, with a range of options residing in Morisset and a couple of new options in Cardiff.
West lake Macquarie
Starting in Morisset, make a whole day of it and crawl to and from all three breweries.
Jay Beckham, Dale Beckham and Ray Burkett are the masterminds behind Morisset’s new Bread and Brewery, which opened February 2021. In addition to producing small batches for hospitality venues, the pico-brewery hosts regular beer tastings, pairing brews with the ingredients they’re made of.
Lake Mac Brewing was the first beer house to open in the suburb, welcoming customers from 2020. Not only is Lake Mac Brewing Company a place to enjoy a drink, but it is also a vibrant community gathering place. Here, you can savor unique, locally-crafted beers brewed and gourmet meals.
Just down the road, The Yard Kings brewery, has quickly made a name for itself. The business is the brain-child of five tight-knit Lake Macquarie families who came upon the idea of creating a brewery during a backyard barbecue. The venue, which is now the largest brewery in Morisset, offers a spacious tap-house and dining area and is able to produce up to 300,000 litres of the good stuff each year.
North lake Macquarie
If your visiting the north, try out these Cardiff Breweries, that aren't to be missed on your brewery crawl.
Located on the thriving Munibung Road, Paddles Brewing Co brings its crafted beers to the community through their brew pub, events, Refills and batches. Local musicians bring Live Music from 5pm every Friday over summer to entertain you whilst sipping on our delicious beer.
Also located on Munibung Road is Cardiff Brewery; a small batch craft brewery adding a unique twist to Wests Cardiff. Each element of the facility brings not only the history of Cardiff to life but also a cool modern vibe for locals to hang out. With a wide open space of tables and booths, games room with arcade games, pool tables and darts plus an outdoor area and custom built fermentation vessels room, the Cardiff Brewery is certainly built to impress.
