Description

Rathmines Park is the heritage-listed site of the RAAF Rathmines Flying Boat Base on Lake Macquarie from 1939 to 1961, commemorating the rich history of the place and the men and women who served there. The Catalina seaplanes played a significant role in defending Australia in World War II events, notably the battle of the Coral Sea in 1942.

ABOUT US

Rathmines Catalina Association is a volunteer organisation committed to preserving and displaying the heritage and history of the former RAAF base and honouring the men and women who served there.

We are currently restoring an old Catalina seaplane for a static historical display on the site and we manage and care for the Memorial Wall near the old Officers' Mess (now the bowling club), where a special Anzac service is held each year.

We offer a warm welcome to new members and supporters.
