1. Bushwalking through the National Parks

Bushwalking through tranquil forest in the pleasant Autumn temperatures is a relaxing experience to get you back to nature. Lake Macquarie is home to several National Parks with great walking tracks to enjoy.

2. Cycling on the Fernleigh Track

The Fernleigh track is a world-class cycling track stretching for 15km from Belmont to Adamstown. A former rail corridor, the track passes through beautiful bushland areas making it a peaceful and relaxing ride. 3. Lakeside dining

A great way to enjoy the lake during Autumn is to choose one of the great lakeside dining options. If you prefer sea views, that’s on offer too. Lake Macquarie Yacht Club at Belmont is known for its relaxed lakeside dining with some of the best views of Lake Macquarie around. Caves Beach Resort offers stunning ocean views from its outdoor dining area and a fantastic bistro menu.

4. Picnicking around the lake

You can’t go past a picnic by the lake or ocean. There are lots of fantastic picnic locations around the City that you can enjoy. Pelican foreshore and Speers Point Park are two of the best around.

5. Shopping and indoor entertainment

Charlestown Square is the shopping and entertainment mecca of Lake Macquarie. There’s a huge variety of stores to choose from; you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. Plus, there’s entertainment that will keep the kids entertained for hours. Kids can try Laser Tag, Bowling, and Reading Cinemas to name a few! To catch a flick away from the hustle and bustle, head to Lake Cinema Boolaroo where great films are always showing.

 

Spend a Day at Warners Bay

If you want to know where to go when you’re in Lake Macquarie, you can’t go past Warners Bay. Warners Bay is the ultimate location for a relaxed day out in Lake Macquarie. There’s plenty to see and do for everyone. 

Set on the lake, the main street is filled with fantastic boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. Head out for a delicious breakfast or lunch from the selection of cafes, grab a coffee and browse through the boutique shops selling clothes and unique trinkets. Or, go of an evening and enjoy a great meal at one of the restaurants. For something more relaxed, you can always pick up some takeaway and have a lakeside picnic.

Cross the street and you’ll find an easy, flat shared pathway, highlighted by the elevated Red Bluff Boardwalk at Eleebana. For families, a half hour walk west will lead you to the award-winning Speers Point Variety Playground where the kids will be delighted by the huge play area complete with a flying fox, water play and giant spiral slide.
